Neil S. Braun, Dean, Lubin School of Business
Neil S. Braun has served as the Dean of Pace University's Lubin School of Business in New York since July 2010. He currently serves on the board of directors of IMAX Corporation and national anti-hunger organization Share Our Strength, and he has previously been President of the NBC Television Network, Chairman and CEO of Viacom Entertainment, an internet and environmental entrepreneur, a film producer, and a corporate attorney. Mr. Braun has taught an MBA course in economic models of media and entertainment at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and a JD from the University of Chicago Law School.
Mary P Lieto, Executive Director, Pace University Auxillary Services
As a senior administrator at Pace University, Mary Lieto has leveraged her knowledge, experience and capabilities of serving in the Finance and Planning division, and in the past 6 years expanded her role to serve in the Student Affairs Division as a dual reporting role, thus eliminating traditional boundaries when areas of responsibility intersect, such as Housing and Dining operational and financial performance. Mary ‘s responsibilities include the overall management of the One Card Services, three Campus Bookstores, Dining Services, Laundry & Vending Operations, the Downtown Conference Center, as well as Summer Conference Housing and Student Mail Services.
Mary effectively leveraged her 12-plus years at Pace, and the experiences gained prior to Pace at other higher education institutions to pilot the redesign of Auxiliary Services to serve across the University’s traditional organizational boundaries. Based on Mary’s success in this pilot project, she was promoted to Executive Director of Auxiliary Services in 2006. The key success factors contributing to the consideration of this management model was an established foundation of mutual trust and professional respect accompanied by innovative thinking to address operational needs during a time of diminished resources. It also took Mary’s willingness to risk making a dual reporting relationship work and it did. The success of this pilot provides an example for expanding this type of innovative thinking across the University as every area within the University must continue to focus on achieving and sustaining the University’s financial stability and committing to an enhanced service ethic culture.
Bruce Bachenheimer, Director, Entrepreneurship Lab
Bruce Bachenheimer is a Clinical Professor of Management, the Director of the Entrepreneurship Lab at Pace University and a Faculty Fellow of the Wilson Center for Social Entrepreneurship at Pace University. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses, primarily in the areas of entrepreneurship, management, and strategy. Mr. Bachenheimer is a member of the Board and past Chair of the New York City Chapter of the MIT Enterprise Forum. He serves on the Board of Directors & Advisors of LeadAmerica and has served as a consultant to the New York City Department of Small Business Services and the New York City Economic Development Corporation. He is also the organizer of the Pace Business Plan Competition and the Pace Pitch Contest.
Miles Lasater Co-Founder of Higher One, New Haven, Connecticut
As President, Chairman and COO of Higher One, Miles Lasater has provided leadership to take Higher One from an idea he and two friends had while an undergrad to a publically traded company serving over 10 million students. Along the way to a 2010 IPO, Higher One was recognized as one of the fastest growing private companies in the U.S. by Inc. magazine and Entrepreneur magazine. After its IPO, Higher One has been named Great Place to Work byEntrepreneur and FORTUNE.
Prior to founding Higher One, Miles was a member of the invention team at Walker Digital, where he worked on intellectual property for companies such as Priceline and Retail DNA. (They actually called him something like an “inventor intern” and paid him to read about stuff he was interested in anyway). Previously, he worked in Silicon Valley as a computer consultant (a fancy way of saying he worked with computer servers and spent a lot of time on ladders or hands/knees installing wiring). While an undergrad at Yale, he was Rookie of the Year at Flying Colors Painting where he managed a residential painting franchise. Also while at Yale, Miles founded the Yale Entrepreneurial Society and launched Yale’s annual business plan competition.
Recipient of the Elm-Ivy Award, Miles was recognized by the Mayor of New Haven and the President of Yale for strengthening partnerships among the New Haven and Yale communities. As an extension of his interest in civic life, social entrepreneurship and technology, he co-founded SeeClickFix, a Government 2.0 start-up which is growing quickly. He was named 2010 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for New England and named finalist in the 2011 Ernst & Young National Entrepreneur of the Year.
Miles was born in Texas, grew up in San Francisco, and attended high school at Phillips Academy Andover. Miles has a BA in computer science from Yale. He is passionate about reading, learning, family, and helping people achieve their goals.
